Ever since I thought up of owning an online Literature fanzine where reading is welcome, I never knew I would have a place where I would introduce comics I found and read. This particular title interested me mainly because of the title 'Youthful Love Romances'; Oh I knew there was going to be some melodrama in this book. Wishes come true, this book is full of melodrama that it made me laugh. To the modern day woman this book would be considered 'Propoganda' since every story is about how a woman wants to get a man or how a woman cries for not having a man or not being married. It's propoganda for marriage, but this is 1950 and 50's society was shit if you weren't white and male. From the title and publication date you would think it's written by men who want to set the idea of what real women should act like, think again. Every story in this book was written by women, of I may be wrong if there is a man named 'Gloria'. Of course I'm a man so I would laugh at stuff like this, So this is something different from what I've covered here on 'The Next Panel', I have no clue whether females would agree with me and think this is fun or they would enjoy this in a serious storytelling manner, I don't know for sure.
I've covered comics that dealt with the Cold War from a 1960's american standpoint, Homophobia and Britain's 'Section 28' Law, Surrealist Manga, Plus Size girls biting off a dude's lip, a terrible but fun adaptation of the 'DOOM' video game as a comic and now I can finally add 'Youthful Love Romances' to the resume.
Oh boy, the things I do for the site, but enjoy. :)
