Blacktime is not getting alot of 'how should I say' reader activity here which is kinda understandable even though I post my links on Facebook; I guess that's the thing with not being popular. Yes, I wish for this to be a noticed and household website where people actually visit to read or see anything interesting. I can drone on about how this site does not have alot of submissions and all (Except for that awsome picture we got from that anonymous artist "THANKS") but I should get back in track. The whole purpose of 'Blacktime' was to expose people to new things, like music, movies, books, comics (because they seem to still be in that realm of 'Kids stuff' even though new forms of storytelling have evolved from that format). Along with being a hip E-magazine, it is the chance for people to submit artwork or short stories for all to read. You can say Blacktime is a literate web magazine that's owned by a weird person.
Blacktime began as an idea after being ignored by those stupid publishers at SCRAWL (a literate arts magazine from my high school) and that whole debacle was explained in my last entry which served also as a manifesto. This website is for the artist, by the artist, with help from artists and owned by a weirdo who is also an artist. Creativity is dying and no one seems to care that it's dying. It's dying in T.V, it's dying in Cinema (although the indie films are where it's at) and already dead in music (no denying it). Books seem to be the only format where it's even steven, you have your classics and new favorites, then you have the crappiest of the crappy which seem to be the ones with the 'New York Time's Best Seller List' tag on it (Cough! Twilight! Cough!) What I want to do is build a community full of creative people and I admit it, I want to showcase my talents too which is also the core reason why I made this site. You have bloggers who ramble about stuff (like this one) that get readers daily, you have the video critics who review stuff like film and video games or those make up tutorial people on youtube who have a fanbase. If those people can have a fanbase from doing that, I guess I can get a fanbase from writing stories and it is sure to grow my chances of being a published author along with shinning light to the other people wanting to show their writing, art or even photography.
Blacktime is creativity in the works for the artist. One thing I hope would happen is if this site gets comments on everything from my work or other people's works, recieve fanmail from either our Blacktime email address or on Facebook, but for now we're here in the obscurity which is nothing shamefull, i'ts not dying due to lack of visitors. To make it clear, our site is still in it's fetal stage, it has not yet reached old age, it can't walk and it's can't talk; but when it can walk and talk, everyone will know and love it.
Blacktime is random , it's a place for the artist, it's random and weird.
For now, check out some of when we've posted so far, there's a mini series I'm doing called 'Adventures in Pancakes' which is a comic strip featuring a killer pancake, a weekend deal called 'The Fourth Panel' in which I post public domain comics and the one currently on is titled 'World War III' about fighting the Russians (This sunday will be the finale), I'm trying to juggle both working on 'Welcome To The Dissidents' and wanting to put up a new 'Dance Hall' entry. The Dance Hall is a music introduction blog in which Junette and I (jebus black) inform and introduce you to good music from our own playlists. I have two short stories I've written in my past and hope to post more later on. The two short stories I have up are 'Runaway' (the fantasy tale of a old boy wanting to escape the clutches of their overprotective parents to pursue his crush and his runaway older sister) and my comedic account of hell I titled "Jebus' Inferno". I have a few 'comix' up which are all random; I believe I have some of my 'Adventures in Pancakes' in there along with some surrealist comics, a dark and grim short series called 'Mirrored Fables' which I will admit Neil Gaiman's sandman inspired me for that short.
