In the first five years I could build an audience just by posting links (Mainly for 'Adventures in Pancakes') & print ads. Believe it or not I drew, inked & posted up print ads all over campus. 'Sigh', I wish I had a scanner copier at that time so I could of printed those ads instead of using the actual drawn copies. Sadly those posted ads were quickly torn down a day later by some random fuck nugget. Don't know who did this or why, but someone has a personal agenda against BlackTime, then again I don't go into places without picking fights or seeking enemies. Since then things have changed since the early days of internet entertainment. The days of going onto a group forum, posting a link & hoping people visit are long since gone, especially in groups designed for artists, writers & online content makers. Nowadays forums don't want that anymore. I can't blame the moderators, too many links fuck up the group feed. Then when everyone is posting links, you gotta make yours stand & grab people's attention. How do you make a link stand out?
We now live in this online 'pay for exposure' world that has been swindling people out of money which began in Facebook. Here's how, you're not paying for a wide exposure, you're not really paying to let a specific demographic to see your content, you're just paying for artificial likes. You're not really paying for an advert that will pop up on someone's feed, that's for BIGGER businesses. Artificial likes, it's cheap, lame & at the end of the day a very useless form of gaining popularity. It's like buying a fake cellphone & talking loudly to make people think you have friends. You're paying for foreigners to like your page who don't know what they're liking. It's like setting up a group therapy for bipolar depression at a local gymnasium, only to have it be attended by tupperware housewives who are there because they noticed the free finger sandwiches, then leave after eating everything. I feel bad for the cosplay & pinup girls because you can tell who pays for exposure in those community. When every other comment under their pics it's “Hey Biutifull” or “Show Bobs Burgers or Virginia”, that's the indicator. They would love to show Bob's Burgers, but they need the DVD sets or MP4 files! Aside from the friends & real folks who like the BlackTime Facebook page, for some reason I still get the foreign likes I would get if I did pay for Facebook's reach service. Now don't twist my words, I'm not against getting fans from all walks of life here. What I hate is getting likes from people who don't understand what the page is about & continuously ask me what 'BlackTime E-Press' is all about. I GOT A BIO!!! For a page that requires interactivity & basic English reading skills, why accept people who don't understand what I'm saying? Then there's the bullshit of not knowing if people are seeing the status updates or not, despite them enabling the notification tag. The reach for my posts have been decreasing by the second, even after putting up the often used tags. That's some bullshit that I've also been experiencing with the people I adamantly follow, I enable notifications & yet I get nothing from them. I thought some of these pages (Taste of Cinema) stopped operating, but I soon find out they have been putting out content since forever. Facebook is being a bitch about its post reach & straight up telling you “If you don't pay us for something that used to be free, then fuck you. We're not giving you a chance to gain a fraction of the audience you want.” So that also hurt the BlackTime Facebook.
Twitter is not that bad a place, only due to the fact that I don't use it as a BlackTime page, but more as a half business, half personal page with the BlackTime tag. It works if you know how to talk to the people around you, but I will admit I do suck at trying to add hashtags in order for those links & posts to get the widest exposure. Then there's TUMBLR. I stopped using Tumblr because of that NSFW porn ban. We're not a porn page, but when the porn was removed I could already tell half of my fanbase would be gone. Also I stopped posting links there out of principal. That first month of the porn ban was ridiculous, there would be folks who post pictures of their dogs or non-pornographic but kinky art who would get struck by the ban hammer immediately. I can't say it was political maneuver on Tumblr's part, but I can tell you this was an attack on free expression. Many artists, mainly porn & people who like to draw the naked form were fully affected by this.
As you can tell the options are getting limited on my part, but like I said this is the time to improve. Now I'm not going to pay for those Facebook boosts, nor am I going to pay for whatever ad boost there is on Twitter, if there is any. I'm not paying for stuff that doesn't reach the audience I want, but I will pay for this domain.
Why didn't I think of this sooner? Well I thought I could manage without exchanging money for a service, after all I'm not earning money on this site. Stupid old me, huah huah huah! Never too late to start I guess, so I'm shoveling out money from my hard ass vampire work in order to get more exposure & look official. I'm sure paying the monthly fee will increase audience exposure, except for Britain. That UK porn block, like I've said countless times, blocks everything besides porn. I thought that shit happened years ago, but British folks keep posting links to the UK porn block being a new thing. Then again I might be wrong, I've been out of touch as of recent. If any of you Brits can email me telling me if you can still view my page, that would be nice. I'm pretty sure I am blocked, even though I don't post porn. Enough about Britain, I am pretty excited because Weebly isn't just offering extra exposure. Along with a domain I'm also unlocking access to uploading video & audio, which gives me more ideas as to multimedia projects I want to partake in. One of them being my podcast.
So the future of BlackTime isn't dark, far from it but at the same time we're also not far from the fame. Wee izz kult status up in this joint! So expect to not see 'Weebly' on the link anymore. In order to test out this new domain & how wide we can reach with the weebly service, I am going to catch up to a long overdue responsibility & upload the special edition of 'Os Immortale' written by none other than Irene Stark!
I feel so shitty for putting this off for so long, she sent the manuscript in December of 2018 & I have been putting it off for so long. Part of it is because I've been working long nights & in the daytime I only have enough energy to focus on one thing. Other times I'll admit I'm a lazy fatass. Never did I think that in my mid 20's that something we all take for granted like time & energy would be a scarce commodity. So expect a special edition of the story.
From now on the link is going to be 'www.blacktimepress.com', no more 'weebly' at the end on it.
On the next bit of good news here, 'Adventures in Pancakes #38' broke an audience record. Not gonna discuss numbers here, but all I got to say is this recent episode struck more of a chord than I had with any of the other stuff I wrote on the site. The previous record was held by 'Adventures in Pancakes #30', the episode where Psycho Pancake becomes a vaper & there was one I did where Psycho Pancake orders a pizza & starts tripping as he accidentally adds psychedelic shrooms into the pizza. I remember those two getting such a positive responses from viewers, then again those were posted when I still had the Tumblr. Seems I have struck a chord with this recent episode & I truly know why. Without this specific part the episode would not have the bite & that would be to the reference to the Weinerschintzel 'Gotcha!' Commercial from 2008. Those of you old enough to remember know what I'm talking about, y'all understood that reference & I'm pretty sure you laughed your ass off!
We all knew she was a freak.
2008! Sexual Harassment was cheeky fun!!!!
So I'm pretty glad that the episode hit a lot of folks in the funny bone. The only direction this series can go is up.& I hope to make an episode that rivals or outdoes this episode.
UP AND COMMING PLANS
So I have a lot going on, the problem is real life responsibilities & being drained out of both body & mind just complicates the plans more. Originally I was about to start a three part 'Blogbabble' series on Music. Specifically my music which would begin with Video Game music, second installment would be Movie Soundtracks & all of that would culminate into the final installment, Various Artists music. Sadly those plans are on hold because of a major tragedy that has just happened in the world of comic books. DC COMICS: VERTIGO just went under & it would be disingenuous if I didn't talk about Vertigo Comics & the impact they had on my life as a teen finding my own identity. So expect me to talk about Vertigo again. I know I talked a little about it back in the comics episode I did years ago, but I don't think I talked deeply about Vertigo.
I did want to write a Blog entry on sitcoms, but I really don't want to rewatch a lot of these so for now that idea has to be put on hold. Remember 'The Pitts', of course you don't. Then to seal the deal I have to watch a few episodes of the shitty sitcoms & make myself feel horrible.
Another entry I want to get to, especially before September, would be the Sept.11 episode where I talk about my perspective on the whole national tragedy & what I recall seeing at age 9. Sticking with real world craziness here, an episode on Illegal Immigration & all the stuff that went down around 05 or 06. I gots plenty of stories to tell about all the stuff I saw & the unnecessary inequality bullshit that went down which contradicts how people react now when students try to become politically active. Also a lot of the political manipulation that I not only noticed in the news, but also from the teachers. Like I said, I don't plan on doing these on a specific order. It usually depends on the kind of mood I have & I've been stressed to all hell. So of course I've been sticking with writing non-politics on here. Believe me, I haven't forgotten about all the crazy bullshit happening in national politics. Investigations being dropped willy nilly, this is straight out of the first Mad Max movie. It's just when everything in my life is all doom & gloom, stating the obvious doesn't help none. That's when I talk fun useless shit that helps nobody, it de-stresses me in a way. But also I'm trying to cross out all the entry ideas I got so I can work on my secret project fulltime. Sadly whenever I cross out more ideas off my list, 20 more keep rushing to my mind. The only writers block I have is for my review series (Though I still need to type out my handwritten review on a handful of Jackie Chan films I saw). Then there's the other article series in which I can assure you I am not dry on, 'This Shit Drives Me Up The Fucking Wall' (or TSDMUTFW for short). Believe me, I'm not short on shit to get angry at with that series & the list of stuff that angers me just keeps growing & growing & growing & growing. My problem is trying to find the time to write an entry that won't fuck up my day. I'll admit, sometimes I do get worked up so much that I end up messing up an already good day. Sometimes when things get too perfect I tend to force myself to get sad or angry so when something stressful or depressing happens then I don't feel to broken about it.
You know what drives me up the fucking wall? People who smile or laugh when telling you bad news.
Though details aren't in order, I am making a very special offer for folks who run anthology zines or run E-book anthologies that publish mystery/detective fiction. If you or know someone who runs an online zine, I got a mutant detective short story that would be perfect for your publication. I am willing to offer a reasonable price for it if you so want it. As stated before, the details of how I'm going to go about selling it directly haven't been clear. I still need to get my contract in order that covers not just for how long you have the rights to the story (You know, for if you want to continue republishing it. I know, that's just hubris on my part). So if you want a chance to publish my first story on a public forum (That isn't my own BlackTime site), then this will be your chance. I'll probably do another 'BlackTime Important Announcement' addressing this when I'm done editing the short story & got my contract in order.
It's a busy busy busy time for BlackTime E-Press. Expect great things in the coming months. If you got questions, ask them! One thing I really want to do on Blogbabble is a Q&A. You ask the questions, I answer them! So if you want that to be a reality then send in those questions. Ask me anything, whether it be BlackTime related, anything related to specific stuff like 'Adventures in Pancakes' or anything about movies or even personal questions. Now I must assure you that if it's way too personal then I won't answer, but I'll admit there are questions out there that are considered too personal for others which I won't mind answering. I don't know if that's a fetish or not. So keep that in mind. Hell, ask me stupid shit like “If god ever had a microwave, would he microwave a burrito so hot that he himself could not eat it?”
I like answering stupid questions like that as well.
So for now, I'd like to wish you all the best in everything & thank you all for dealing with my 'dumbassery'. I'd also especially love to thank all of you who read 'Adventures in Panckaes'. We got the right brain synapses you & I!
Now here's the contact info (followed by the end music) if you want to provide questions for the Q&A.
